Unite Union 2026 Maximum fee adjustment.
Unite normally increases the maximum fee every two years. Because members who pay less than the maximum fee (1.2% of weekly pay) have their fees increase every time their wages go up, we need to regularly adjust the maximum fee as well. Otherwise everyone would end up on the same fee no matter what they earn.

Just two and a half years ago in April 2023 the minimum wage was just 95 cents (4%) below the Living Wage. Unite union Opposes Dangerous Puberty Blocker Ban
Unite Union stands in solidarity with trans whanau against dangerous puberty blocker ban. The ban on puberty blockers is a violent attack on the bodily autonomy of young people in this country and also sets the dangerous precedent for the curbing of access to abortion and contraceptives. This will directly affect the youngest workers in our industries, who are routinely subjected to harassment and chronically underpaid. Repairing the damage from this ban will take decades.

Brooke Van Velden herself admits that workers who increase their regular hours over time will lose out on annual leave. Those who decrease their hours will only be marginally better off, as the current law protects their pay for up to a year after. For example, Kayla starts a permanent job working 20 hours a week in January
