Unite - Burger King

Unite Union is a modern organisation of workers. Our goal, just like other unions, is to lift wages, improve conditions and win respect for workers across Aotearoa New Zealand. Fast food workers are the largest membership group of this union, with over 3000 members.
We have a proud history of looking after workers, connecting you all across the company to negotiate better terms and conditions of employment. As of 2026, Unite members have a collective agreement with Burger King, Starbucks, and Popeyes, which you can read here.
Join to be covered by the Collective Agreement
Fees are 1.2% of gross weekly pay with a minimum of $2.50/week and maximum of $7.75/week, same rule for every member.
Every employee has the right to join a union. This increases the power of all union members to make things better.
Together, Unite members have won:
-
Yearly pay increases above minimum wage, including higher pay for trained staff
-
Minimum length of shift (at least 4 hours)
-
Improved redundancy pay
-
15 minutes paid breaks instead of 10
-
Guaranteed minimum hours for part-time staff that can be improved to suit the worker's needs
Enjoy the wins, and join now for what’s next.
You may have a union delegate at your workplace to speak with. Local union representatives may also visit your workplace from time to time - say hi if you see them!
