Your vote is your voice. Two ticks could change everything.
It’s been a difficult few years for working people like you and me. We’ve faced blow after blow from a chaotic coalition government made up of people who have never worked a hospo job. One day on drive-through would likely have them running back to their golf courses and country clubs for whiskey and respite.
We’ve done everything we can to fight bad legislation that prioritises race-baiting, increases employer power, and decimates regular working people. We’ve marched, rallied, submitted, strategised, and argued. That’s all good work—but it has its limits.
This year we have the fastest and simplest way to push wealth-focused and divisive people out of government. All it takes is regular people like you and me ticking two boxes to vote for Labour, the Greens or Te Pāti Māori.
This is not the year to be disheartened, too busy, distracted or to think your vote doesn’t count.
We have a responsibility to each other—as union members and as members of our communities to ensure we are enrolled, and that we vote.
National, ACT and New Zealand First are relying on you. In order to stay in power they need you to stay home, and to give up your vote.
You must not let them be proven right.
A change of government is not a magic solution- but it can stop the clock on the damage currently being done to our communities.
A change of government can also:
Bring back Fair Pay Agreements and improve pay and conditions for hundreds of thousands
Make essential healthcare more accessible—or even free!
Protect the special and unique relationship between tangata whenua and tangata tiriti
Create fairer rules around work visas and protect people from migrant worker exploitation
Bring back Pay Equity
You lose nothing by taking the time to vote for Labour, the Greens, or Te Pāti Māori. There is everything to gain.
Unite Union is not affiliated with any political party, the choice of how you vote is yours. But we do expect you to use your vote, to ensure the parties who cancelled Fair Pay for Hospo and Pay Equity cannot cause further damage to our families.
Your Union wants to ensure everyone is enrolled, and we’ll be in touch so you know how, where, and when to vote. We need help—so if you’re keen to be involved, touch base with your organiser and we’ll get you set up.
We have 6000 Unite Union members, that’s real power.
Your vote is your voice. Two simple ticks could change our world.
