October 25th - Last chance to enrol to vote!!

The rules have changed - there is no more same day enrollment.
People have until Sunday midnight October 25 to enrol online or post their enrolment form. And with two days left only 66.7% of eligible people aged between 18 to 24 are currently enrolled, leaving almost 150,000 rangatahi without the opportunity to vote.
So reach out to the rangatahi in your life and help them to enrol and vote this government out!
How do I enrol to vote?
Online at vote.nz
You will need:
- A current real me login, OR
- Valid government- issued ID (such as a passport or NZ Drivers License)
Paper-based Enrolment Form

-An envelope to post
What information do you need to enrol?
Full legal name
Date of birth
NZ residential address - students can enrol where they are living now or the one they call home - homeless can use their last known physical address or a shelters address

When can I vote?
Advanced voting begins on Monday the 26th of October and is open until Election day the 7th of November.
Where do I vote?
There are 2,300+ voting places across the country.
You can vote at any location between Monday 26 October - Saturday 7 November.
Different locations will have different opening hours and accessibility.

How does voting work in NZ:
In Aotearoa NZ we use MMP, or “Mixed-Member Proportional”
You have 2 votes - a party vote and an electorate vote
Party vote:
This is the vote for the political party which you want to represent in parliament
The list of parties you can vote for is the same for everyone
Electorate vote:
This vote is for a candidate who will represent your electorate (the area you live in)
The list of candidadtes to vote for will be differencet for each electorate
There are 120 seats in parliament
Every canidate gets a seat in parliament. There are 64 general electorates and 7 Māori electorates.
Remaining seats are filled from party lists. the proportion of seats each party gets reflects the proportion of the party vote they received.
A party must get at least 5% of the party vote or win an electorate seat before they can have any seats in parlaiment.
