Unite Union is looking for someone to take up a nine-month fixed-term contract as a full-time Unite organiser for Hamilton and Bay of Plenty. The contract runs from 14th February to 14th November 2011.

The role would involve visiting and servicing members at their worksites (typically fast-food outlets, cinemas, security and hotels) recruiting, advocacy, and helping build national campaigns. 2011 will be a big year for Unite with campaigns to raise the minimum wage to $15 and to see workers get a share of the economic benefits from the World Rugby Cup.

We are looking for an active, motivated and well organised person who is able to work efficiently and effectively on their own but with backup and support from the national office and formal supervision from another Hamilton organiser.

Full-time training will be given to the successful candidate in February.

The applicant should have a driver’s license and a car. Petrol costs are covered in full and car maintenance allowance is payable.
